A Fun + Creative Way To Change Your Mindset - Free Printable

Ever feel like you’re getting nowhere? Like life is a struggle and that all your hard work is futile?

Know that feeling well and it’s not a nice one.

You’re constantly looking at what you don’t have and how much it looks as though you’re not getting anywhere.  Before you know it, you’re sinking into a deep dark hole of despondency with no way of coming out for a few days at least, possibly longer. I know that feeling all too well and I’m guess if you’re reading this, you most likely do to.

What I want to propose to you today is a totally different way of looking at things.

You’re so used to beating yourself up for not being enough, doing enough and being further along in life. In fact, you’re probably quite comfortable thinking this way, subconsciously anyway.

Because, if you want to live a happier and more fulfilling life, I hate to tell you but thinking this way and beating yourself up for not being where you think you should be, is not going to help.

Think about it. If you’re constantly going about your life telling yourself that you aren’t doing well enough, aren’t wealthy enough and haven’t achieved enough so far in your life, that’s unfortunately what you’re going to get more of.

How do I know?

Because I lived my life this way for close to 40 years. Constantly berating myself and beating myself up for not having achieved certain goals, not being married before I was 30, not having a boyfriend or partner, not having my own house, still living with my parents or renting well into my 30’s. Oh, believe me I could go on and on.

A couple of years ago, I started challenging myself to see things differently, especially the things that weren’t working in my life.

So instead of telling myself how much further along I should be I decided to start telling myself that I was doing so much better than what I thought I was.

Of course, I never believed it at first, but I wanted to see what could happen if I chose to see things from a different perspective and didn’t give up after 1 day.

And I realised that I had the power to choose to see myself from a different perspective or to keep beating myself up.

Yep, it was all up to me. No one was making me see myself this way. I had consciously or subconsciously chosen it, so why couldn’t I un-choose or choose differently?

So, whenever I noticed the urge to go down the same path I stopped, and told myself; “You know what Bev? You’re doing so much better than what you realise. Just take a look at what you have. From this point on I’m choosing to believe that I really am doing so much better than I think I am. I’m no longer abusing myself by comparing and putting myself down.“

Please keep in mind that this isn’t going to work overnight or even over a week or month.

This took practice.

This took repetition.

This took catching myself over and over and over again and choosing to tell myself something different, until one day it has become second nature to me.

Trust me, if I can do it then you sure can too.

And if it all seems too much at first, like it did for me, you might like to start with simply putting this colouring page on the fridge or somewhere you will see it often and allow it to subliminally influence you. Yes, that is a thing 😊

This was one of the ways I began changing my mindset.

Saying or even choosing to believe a new way of thinking was way too much for me in the beginning. My poor brain couldn’t cope. So, instead of giving up, I made up some cute colouring pages with new beliefs. Colouring is a fun and creative way to calm your brain and nervous system, which allows new messages and information to access your subconscious mind without the usual resistance.

I left them on my desk, coffee table, kitchen table, fridge, bathroom, basically anywhere I frequented regularly - where I knew my subconscious mind would pick it up.

The beauty of this technique is that you don’t have to consciously choose a new way of thinking, you can set your subconscious mind to work through simple subliminal messaging.

You can write this new way of thinking onto sticky notes and put them around your house where you will see them often as well.
